Candace Botha, publisher of Sarasota Pet magazine, and Mary Lou Davidson of SarasotaDog.com are each extremely active in the Sarasota animal community with their respective media properties. In May 2011, Botha and Davidson worked in tandem to create the first Dog Day Afternoon at Gettel Toyota in Bradenton. The event was considered a resounding success from dog lovers and the rescue community, resulting in more than 15 dogs finding their forever homes.
Candace had long considered hosting a holiday celebration to serve the local Sarasota community that would include a festive, one-stop shopping experience and also connect adoptable dogs with potential families. In 2011 this idea came to fruition with the First Annual Jingle Paws Jubilee held at co-presenter Jennifer Hummel’s ACE Pet Resort.
With more than 1200 attendee’s at the 2011 event it was necessary to relocate to a larger venue. Twin Lakes Park will be the site of the 2012 event. Candace, Mary Lou and Jennifer are excited to welcome Dr. Anne Chauvet of Critical Care and Veterinary Specialist of Sarasota to the team as a co-presenter.
